Nissan Warranty
Nissan warranties are available in two levels from a Nissan dealer. Cars are subject to a check over by Nissan before cover can be administered. Cover is available both monthly and annually.
Be aware that the way the two policies are laid out is different. With Ultimate Cover, only the items that are not covered are listed.
With Premium Cover it is the parts, which are covered, that are listed. Bear this in mind as you compare the policies.
The policies have different mileage limits: Ultimate Cover is for cars up seven years old and with less than 75,000 miles on the clock. Premium cover has a limit of ten years and 100,000 miles.
Follow the link below to read through the differences in cover, and compare them to the cover from independent warranty companies, before making a choice. You may find it easy to do this using our Nissan Car Warranty Comparison Chart.
Both warranties are insurance policies, administered by Car Care Plan and underwritten by the Motors Insurance Company. So they falls under the jurisdiction of the Financial Services Agency (FSA).
Key points to consider when comparing Nissan quotes:
- What period do you need cover for?
- This will affect the price of independent warranties, which offer discounts for 2 and 3 year cover.
- How does Nissan define ‘wear and tear' and what will it pay out on?
- Would Nissan pay out if an insured part were to damage a non-insured part - or vice-versa? The warranty states that any damage caused by water ingress is not covered - even if that damage is to warrantied parts. Get confirmation of Nissan's stance on so-called ‘consequential loss'.
- The exhaust system is not covered - would it be covered for premature corrosion? And also, does this include the DPF filter?
- Light bulbs are excluded - does this include expensive Zenon bulbs?
- Wheels are not covered - would Nissan pay out if the wheels were to buckle or corrode prematurely?
- ‘Seat Covers and cushions' are specifically excluded. Would Nissan pay out of premature wear of the seat covers?
- The warranty does not cover ‘interior trim' - what happens if the trim should wear or break prematurely due to a manufacturing defect?
- Damage from ‘overloading or abnormal use' is excluded - what does this mean? What if the clutch were to fail? Could Nissan argue that the car had been driven ‘abnormally' and not pay out? Get clarification of this term.
