Vauxhall Warranty
Vauxhall claim to be the first manufacturer in the UK to offer a warranty that can "last a Lifetime."
By this, they mean that the first owner of a new Vauxhall passenger car only, can claim on their warranty at anytime, provided the car has completed less than 100,000 miles.
In most cases this will cover cars for 10-12 years. But, there are significant exclusions and ways for Vauxhall to legitimately not pay out on a variety of claims.
In addition to the main warranty, the cars have a 6 year anti-perforation corrosion warranty, with no mileage restriction. Again, there is important small print to understand if your corrossion warranty is to remain valid.
Here is how Vauxhall's many over-lapping warranties work:
All cars - whether bought new or used- are covered by the Vauxhall warranty for one year, regardless of how many times they are bought or sold, without any mileage limit.
From the end of the first year, to the end of the third year, the warranty continues to cover the car for up to 60,000 miles. Again no matter whether it is sold on to another owner.
If the car has changed hands from the original buyer, then at the end of 3 years, or after 60,000 miles the warranty expires.
However, if the car is still in the ownership of the original buyer after 3 years, it is still covered by the manufacturer warranty, provided the car has less than 100,000 miles on the clock.
Important Small Print
The main warranty (whether it be the 1, 3 or 100,000 miles warranty) excludes routine service and maintenance items, natural wear and tear, and non-approved modifications or conversions. This means that at seervice and MOT you could easily find parts need replacing that Vauxhall's warranty does not cover.
The 6 year anti-perforation corrosion warranty, is dependent on having an annual corrosion protection service.
Details of Vauxhall Extended Car Warranty Cover
Vauxhall also sell a MasterFit extended warranty for the thousands of cars that are not eligible for the 'lifetime warranty.' MasterFit Extended Warranty is available for 12, 24, and 36 months, up to 100,000 miles.
The cover mirrors the manufacturer's warranty provided the vehicle is under seven years old and has covered less than 70,000 miles at the time the cover is purchased.

The table below shows the new Vauxhall models and the limitations on their warranty periods in terms of the number of years and the limits on the mileage. Outside of these periods, an extended Vauxhall warranty would be required from either Vauxhall or from an alternative warranty provider.
